"Northern Uganda is pretty much the worst place on Earth to be a child"
Carol Bellamy, the former Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)
There have long been links between Alresford Deanery in the Diocese of Winchester, UK, and Lango Diocese in Northern Uganda.
This website is devoted to the ongoing support from the people here to the people of the Lango region of Northern Uganda under the pastoral care of Bishop John Charles Odurkami and his clergy.
When the parish priest of the Candover Valley parishes, the Revd David Keighley, visited Lango in 2006 closer friendships were forged and and a promise was made to encourage further support to the Lango diocese - its churches and clergy, schools and children, villages and farmers.
'Uganda Lifeline' is devoted to providing these initial lifelines to those situations needing a little help in starting up again after nearly twenty years of war with the LRA. Remember, that a lifeline is a thin cord which binds two things together. We are well aware that this is a two-way process and we rejoyce in receiving from our friends in Uganda their love and joy expressed so fully in their faith and worship.
